Help us Build the People’s Arts Café in East Durham
Lets Improve access to Culture for Local People!
We have ambitious plans to build an Arts Café as an extension to our headquarters, at Community House in Peterlee.
The facility would stage artistic performances and exhibitions and support the aims of our East Durham Creates project by giving disadvantaged people the opportunity to engage with Culture and Creativity. The café would be directly linked to the People’s Takeaway, the vision being that we can feed families in crisis within a natural and enjoyable setting. Who needs Starbucks or Sage Gateshead?!
Our crowdfunding appeal will help us raise the necessary finances and you can find out more by visiting our appeal website

East Durham Creates is funded by Arts Council England as part of it’s Creative People and Places (CPP) programme. East Durham Creates is one of 21 independent CPP projects. Each project is completely unique to it’s area and residents. East Durham Creates seeks to engage local people in creative activities and grow arts provision in ways that are sustainable and can last. We aim to attract more people to choose, create and take part in brilliant art experiences in the places where they live.
To find more about our recent projects and how you can get involved either use our What’s On Calendar or explore our projects in further detail through our creative programme, which is broken into three strands This Place We Call Home, Strikes of Brilliance and Art for Everyone.
