East Durham Creates has re-launched our latest Lets Create Commissioning scheme!
Let’s Create is a commissioning scheme which supports local arts activities designed to engage the communities of East Durham. Let’s Create gives local groups, artists, venues, arts organisations and many more the chance to test out new ideas and build on the great activities that are happening already. All with the aim of getting more people in East Durham involved in something creative. Local groups and individuals can apply for up to £2000 to support ideas and initiatives that will increase arts engagements.
This is the third iteration of ‘Let’s Create’. The previous rounds have supported over forty local initiatives, ranging from an exhibition in an empty shop, to a community-based festival of dance.
Who Can Apply?
As in previous years, we are seeking applications from general community groups who wish to increase their involvement in the arts, but in addition to this we are keen to encourage local art groups and individual artists to apply. For community groups we expect the application to reflect new people becoming involved in the arts as audiences or participants. For arts groups and individuals we would expect to see increased engagement, but we would also hope to see to see potential around increasing commercial viability or sustainability. We are particularly keen to link artists up with business development agencies and extra resource is available to resource this.
Applicants should be a constituted group with a bank account or in the case of individuals see themselves as an existing or potential business.

The fund is managed by East Durham Trust who are experts in offering services and support to all sorts of local community groups. East Durham Trust staff are happy to support applicants throughout the process. Ultimately a panel, made up of local community volunteers will make the decision as to whether an application has been successful.
