£1.5million from Arts Council England provides a huge opportunity for the people of East Durham to shape their cultural experience over the next three years.

Generating inspiring, engaging and quality arts activity for people living and working in East Durham,Creative People and Places will make the most of the area’s unique towns, intriguing villages, dramatic landscapes and sweeping coastline.

The fund will also provide a boost to the local economy and create jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities for local people working in the cultural and creative industries.

East Durham people will help decide how the money is spent, working alongside partners from Beamish MuseumForma Arts and MediaEast Durham Trust, as well as locally, nationally and internationally renowned artists. The project is also supported by Durham County Council’s Arts Team, part of the Culture and Sport Service, and by East Durham Area Action Partnership.
