Last week we held our second Exchanges workshop at Easington Church of England Primary School where pupils and their parents and carers got creative to produce some brilliant art with the help of Nicola and Jane from Barn Arts.  The themes of the workshop were skill and portraiture and everyone got involved to make something that reflected their personality – even headteacher Mrs Swift had a go!

Nicola and Jane brought along a great stash of  ‘found’ objects – pinecones from the woods, stones shaped by the sea and driftwood from the beach, as well as beads, feathers, tools and old toys.  The group then used these to make frames for a portrait of themselves.

Thanks to everyone who came along and made it a really great session, and look out for the finished artwork on display as part of our programme launch.  If you feel inspired to have a go at making a similar portrait yourself, we’d love to see the end result!
