We made lots of new friends at Low Tide Day on 17th May at Seaham Hall Beach car park. Lots of people had the chance to meet artists and try out new activities, like making a self-portrait or a scary monster. The artists who took part in Low Tide Day are just some of those who will be creating magical new work for our autumn festival. In particular, Gayle Chong Kwan created a seasonal feast. The price for tucking in? You gave us stories, memories and legends about East Durham. There were some funny, fascinating and really moving tales that came out as you all munched through yummy local food and produce, and now Gayle is using the experiences you shared to inspire her work for the festival. Another of our festival artists, Holly Gramazio, is a games designer (what an awesome job!). She invented some new games for you to play with things that were easy to find, and lots of you had fun trying them out. We’re glad you liked them, because Holly is making  new games for the festival, and we need volunteer Games Testers –  more information about that will be coming soon.

Everyone who came along also had the chance to find out more about the project and ways to get involved – but if you weren’t there it’s okay. There will be lots more opportunities in the coming months to find out about East Durham Creates and to get involved.

Low Tide Day was presented in partnership with Durham Heritage Coast and Limestone Landscape Partnership.
