‘If These Wall Could Talk” exhibition is a one day pop up art trail in surprising and unusual outdoor locations in Horden. The artwork has been created by artists Sally Southern and Nicola Lynch, with groups and individuals in the local East Durham community.  The exhibition focuses on everyday life and what home means to people.  It will feature artwork created with individuals who are primarily aged over 55, weaving in snippets and stories that add humour, warmth and a very personal look at life within their home. To top it off there will be bingo, singing, art, light refreshments and it is all FREE! If These Walls Could Talk will take place on 14th May 2019 in Horden from 9am until late evening. The starting point of the trial will be Horden Labour Club, where a free bus will be provided to take to the start. There will be a rest stop available at The Ark on route. THIS EVENT IS FREE TO ATTEND and is accessible for all ages.

Get Involved

Sally and Nicola have now completed the workshop phases of the project and are now working on developing the final exhibition. However there are still opportunities to get involved in the project. We would love to have you attend on the day of the exhibition individually or if you know a group that would like to attend we would love to have you come (please see information about group booking below). There are also volunteering opportunities during the If These Walls Could Talk exhibition, which we would love to have members of our local community fill. Please see information below if you would like to volunteer with us.

Volunteer Opportunities. We are looking for volunteers to cover a three hour time slot for the ‘If These Walls Could Talk’ exhibition on Tuesday 14th May 2019. Up to two people can cover one slot and volunteers are welcome to do more than one slot. We need volunteers between 8am and 8pm. Volunteers will need to be available for a briefing the week before on Tuesday 7th May (either 10am at East Durham Partnership or from 1pm at Horden Labour Club). Travel expenses will be covered. If you are interested in volunteering please get in touch with East Durham Creates or please feel free to  contact; Sally Southern – 07808473300 Nicola Lynch – 07711941074.

Group Bookings.   If you know a group would like to take part, we need you to confirm a few details with us.

We need to know:

-Who your main contact is

-What your arrival time at the venue will be (Horden Labour Club, Sunderland Road)

-If you need us to provide transport for you (free of charge, and how many people for)

If you are interested in coming along, please contact us to arrange transport pick up time. As we are expecting lots of groups, we are allocating specific time slots for a 2 hour visit. We will endeavour to give you your preferred slot, but it will be on a first come first served basis.

Alternatively, you are welcome to drop in independently at the event at any time throughout the day.
